Landing Gear Machining: Bharat Forge and Liebherr-Aerospace Launch Advanced Facility in India

Pune: Bharat Forge Limited has inaugurated a state-of-the-art landing gear machining facility in Mundhwa, Pune, developed in collaboration with Liebherr-Aerospace & Transportation SAS.

The new Landing Gear Machining facility marks a significant milestone for India’s aerospace manufacturing sector and positions the company among the first in the country – and among the first globally at scale – to operate OEM-approved Landing Gear Machining capabilities.

The advanced Landing Gear Machining facility integrates high-precision machining centres dedicated to producing landing-gear components.

The development represents a major step toward strengthening India’s aerospace manufacturing ecosystem and enhancing the country’s participation in global aerospace supply chains through advanced Landing Gear Machining infrastructure.

Senior Leadership Attends Launch Event

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of senior leadership from Liebherr-Aerospace & Transportation SAS and Bharat Forge Limited.

The new Landing Gear Machining facility further strengthens the company’s aerospace manufacturing portfolio, which spans aero-engine components, airframe structures, and landing-gear sub-systems for both civil and military aviation.

Expanding Aerospace Capabilities

With the commissioning of the Landing Gear Machining unit, Bharat Forge now offers a comprehensive aerospace manufacturing portfolio.

The company produces turbine and compressor parts, forged rings, shafts, and discs, along with structural components and landing-gear elements.

In addition to the new Landing Gear Machining capability, Bharat Forge is also establishing an advanced aerospace ring mill in India that will manufacture high-value forged rings for aero-engine programs.
